A mother faces 20 years for harassing teen on MySpace.

You may or may not have heard about this story, but it is pretty interesting. Watch the video at the link here: http://abcnews.go.com/video/playerIndex?id=6297216 and write about what you think about this.

I haven't heard about this before. It's really sad an adult found enjoyment in harassing a teen. They must not have had anything better to do than make a young girl upset. I think she deserves the 20 years. At least the other lady involved apologized, but I still think she should be punished too.

I have heard about this story and it's so sad that a mother would pretend to be someone she's not and say those things. Maybe she didn't think it would go that far, but I definitely think that she should get the 20 years in prison. I do think that teens should be aware of internet predators and know that, that person may not be who they say they are.

I have heard of this story many times. I was shocked at the actions of the mother. It was stupid, and ended up in a death of someone who didn't need to die.People need to watch what they say on the internet and in real life. Because this is becoming too common.

I haven't heard of this up until now. It's really sad that somebody could do this. I think that she deserves the 20 years and they both should have the same punishment because they both were in involved.

Ok well I just listened to that, and it made me think about all the weirdoes out there. How could anyone find any enjoyment harassing a little girl! Its upsetting, I have heard of this kind of thing happening before but I guess when you truly think about it, you never really know when your online who you are talking too. Its a heart breaker when you hear that a teen struggles that much to take her own life. I just hope and pray that there is a new logic we can go by after this horrible tragedy.

it is very bad news that i ever known it. it like a bad thing we shouldn't do that. Hope all of u Think before u Do. God bless you!! Aman...

I think this story is tragic. This is the stuff that does happen because technology is our lives which is kind of sad. I think the mother deserves a life time sentence, because she killed the girl mentally. This really wasn't fair to the girl who had to deal with this. Everyone who participated in this should have serious punishments.

I've never heard of this case. Personally I think it is very very sad that a person could be so heartless, especially a mother. I think that she should serve AT LEAST 20 years because it was basically her fault that girl committed suicide. Teen girls have enough stress in their life and they don't need people harassing them and telling them they're worthless, etc. The other lady that apologized should still be punished but maybe a lesser sentence then the other.

This is the first time I have heard of this, and I think that it's just a horrible tragedy. I do not see how an adult can just mess with a girls mind like that it's just pathetic. Now you know you can't trust anybody on myspace, unless it's one of your friends, and that is all I have and will ever have. The one who openly confessed I have a little pitty for her, but it's not much for she deserves to feel guilty for what she has done and hopefully that will stop her and her friends who were also behind it. She totally deserves it, because no mother deserves to see their child hanging themselves.

I have heard of this before but it is usually a kid doing it not an adult. To think that an adult who is supposed to be setting an example for her children and other children would do something like this and then not take responsibility for it is ridiculous. She needs to think of how the other family feels. I'm sure that that lady wouldn't feel the way she does if the it were her daughter that hung herself. It is ridiculous, and uncalled for. She needs to go to prison for a long long time.

that is weird and disgusting but worse things have happened on the internet.

I remember hearing about this. It is pathetic that we have such immature adults in our society today, this reminds me of the mother from Texas that had a young girl killed because she made the cheerleading team over her daughter. I hope that this lady gets her full sentence of 20 years behind bars.

I think it is sad that an adult found enjoyment in this. I guess it shows how people have no lives and that is the only thing that they could do that. i think that both people should have been punished, but at least the other one did say sorry.

I remember this being all over the news a couple years ago. I think that she deserves 20 or more years in prison. She may have not murdered the girl, but she is the reason the girl committed suicide and I think that is just as bad as murdering someone. She made a poor innocent little girl feel so badly about herself that she felt like she had no other way out. I think the daughter should be tried also. Never should anyone be treated like that girl was and never of it should have been so bad that they made a girl commit suicide. I feel so deeply sorry to the family that lost their daughter because of this horrible woman and her daughter.

I actually watched this on tv when it happened and i've never been so discussed in my life. I can't believe this lady has a child of her own and did that to another. I agree 20 years is not enough. because of this lady another, that was younger than her, lost their life why does she deserve to live and have enjoyment out of life. I have a little respect for the lady that confessed i beleive she should be punished just not as much, who knows she could eventually go around to schools and speak of this to them just to let them know how serious this can be. grrr.

I agree that is sad. We need a law that specifically says "Cyberbullying against the law" or something like that.

I never heard about this at all which is surprising because stuff like that is usually publicized more. It is a very unfortunate incident that occurred. I think there needs to be a harder way to make an account so you can make fake ones and do something like what those three ladies ended up causing to that poor girl. Why would anyone want to be mean to someone so much that would cause them to take their own life. How did they have so much control over that girl?

I have heard about this case before. The worst part is that the woman knew that the girl tried to kill herself before and still made a fake account. I think that we do need a law so that she could get charged with accessory to murder. It is ridiculous that a mother would think its funny to break a young girl's heart, the same age as her own daughter.

I heard about this story a while back. I think that a it is wrong of a someone to do that. I don't see how anyone could enjoy doing something like that. That woman deserves at least 20 years for what she did to that girl and the pain she has caused that family.

this lady does deserve 20 years in prison for doing this the first time i heard about this i was shocked
i can't believe her own mother caused her death!
this is really sad!

I think the lady should be charged 20 years or even more. It makes you wonder what kind of problems the adult had and why she'd ever consider harassing a young teen.

I think that the mother was plays a part in the girls death. She was the one who might have put it into her head. Although she didn't actually murder her she did take a part in it. I think the mother's actions were absurd, I know that that girl might have cause her daughter trouble but she had no right to do what she did. She should be on trial for her actions and she have more than 20 years in prison.

I've heard this one, I think it was on Dr.Phil. I think that if it would of been a kid instead of an adult, the consequences would be less severe, and it makes me how many cases of cyber bulling there are in the world, and how often nothing is done. I also think it shows how our society says its ok not to grow up, I mean the mother in this story how much more immature can you get? It also shows that cyber bulling is very real and people are controlled by other people. We are a very independent nation, but that will be subjected to change with our millennial generation, we care to much about what other people think.

This was the first time I've heard of this incident. It's terrible that we have adults in our society immature enough to do something like this, and then try to deny it! The other woman involved at least had the nerve to admit it, so I give her a bit more credit but she still needs to be punished. Although, the girl being harassed should have told someone about the situation.

Well in my opinion using the online in they way that they have is no different from doing it real life. It is very wrong. They may not have intended for the girl to commit suicide, but you can never really know how your words will affect the mental part of a human being. If she was suffering from ADD then the chances are that if you tell her that the world is better off with out her, she is gonna hurt herself. The parent should have known this and should have done more to stop the kids. Since the mother didn't do anything to stop such acts, I believe it is right to punish her so.

I did not hear about this story, but it is hard to believe that a parent would do that to a teenager. It doesn't matter what her intentions were, she did it and she should be punished to the fullest extent of the law in my opinion. Teens deserve to be aware of these internet predators and understand what could actually happen when they're online.

I've heard this story and I think it takes a real troubled person to harass a teen on the internet for their own enjoyment. I think anybody that has as weak of morals and lack of conscience as that women does:; they need to be put in jail.

well i think that she deserves the 20 years. why would you make a girl like that upset i would you do it for fun. cause what would you get out of it humor. i never hear of this story before.
