Your MacBooks so far....

For this week's blog, talk a little about how you feel about your MacBook. You can be totally honest, but keep it clean! How are the teachers using/adapting your lessons, etc. Are you having problems, etc?

My Macbook is very convenient for doing homework, but can be frustrating when you don't know how to use it!

I have mixed feelings about the macbooks. They can sometimes be a pain. I don't have internet on my macbook at home so I can't do some of my assignments anyway. I am content with paper and pencils. I use my macbook in a lot of classes and have done more blogging this year than year.

I love my Macbook.

I like the Macbooks, just last year, they are a great tool to have. I like that comment "keep it clean" anyhow, of course there are some stuff that I don't like about them, but I am critical of all technology. I like my computer at home too but I have stuff I don't like about it, same deal here with these MacBooks.

As for teachers using these MacBooks for classwork you have no idea...the other day for Brit Lit Mr. Mohr assigned us to play an online video game to learn more about Vikings. I have no books this year, it's all blogs or just books uploaded on the Mac. Even your class we don't use a book or workbook, why? Because they are on your computers, granted the workbook is online but you know what I mean. So yeah that's about all I have to say about that...

I enjoy the mac books more this year than I did last year just because I understand them more.

I think the macbook is a very handy tool to have and it has helped me as a student. They make school and assignments much easier. I like them a lot but sometimes the technology can be a pain.

I like the Macbooks they make learning more interesting, especially when you know how to use all the programs and software. The more we get to use the macbooks, I think the harder it will be to go back to regular pencil and paper assignments.

I like my macbook, like lorissa said it is convenient. I like the Apple brand because I know they are very dependable, and have more applications than a PC. I can't wait to get more into the year and start making iMovies and keynotes, thats my favorite part about these laptops. Especially when I make an imovie about what we are learning about then it helps me understand more. I like them a lot, two thumbs up :)

I think the laptops are a great tool in OHS. I like the laptops better this year than last because we use them more often in each class because it gave the teachers a year to figure out what they will be used for in their classes. I'm glad I am currently taking a computer tech class because I feel that I am using my computer to its full potential. And of course with all technology there is going to be bugs to work out but besides that I have no complaints about the macbooks and I would definitely consider purchasing one for college.

Well... i still prefer my windows computer but the mac does have its perks. For 1, i love spaces, keeps me clean and organized as i do multiple things at once. other than that its just a computer to me.

I only use my mac during 3 of my 6 periods... photoshop, web design, and brit lit. Later in the year I believe we have plans to do some interactive chem labs too.

I have a few problems with it but nothing that i cant just deal with.

I really like the macbooks! However, not many of my teachers really utilize them. Of my seven classes, only three of them actually involve macbook use. I don't mind this, although I wish my other teachers used them more. They're such a great tool that could be used more if given the opportunity.

I love my mac. It has helped me a lot this year and last year. although it has its moments, but what computer doesn't. most of the teachers are letting use learn on our macs because most of our books are on-line. this is also helpful because you don't have to carry so many books home and then forgetting about them.

So far my computer is a piece most of the time, but sometimes it can be pretty cool and helpful with school, but the bookmarks don't work, the comp. can't remember our login names or passwords, and it freezes alot more and when I shut it down, it takes forever, normally I have to shut it down personally! I hope none of my HOMEWORK doesn't get deleted because the computer decides to be a piece of butt nicks and it just gets me P/O! But it does come in handy with Art and Journalism and all that great stuff, but I'd rather have it not freeze or screw up on me in some kind of way! that is what i think of these so far!!!

I like how with the mac books we can do more like play games online to help us understand something! Sometimes I would rather just use pencil and paper b/c sometimes it helps me to write it down instead of tying it, but all together I like having the macbooks it sometimes makes it easier in classes.

For the most part, I enjoy using the Macbook as a learning device. Although, some teachers get a little carried away with the assignments and activities that we do using the Macbooks. I still like to keep learning somewhat traditional. Overall, everything has been going great so far!

for the most part i really like my mac. it makes things easier, faster, and alot more fun. Although sometimes it is a pain to carry around and make to make sure you have it charged. One thing is we need BOOKMARKS!!!!!!! The good things about this computer definitely out weigh the bad!

The MacBooks are kind of a pain but kind of fun too. It makes things alot easier but can be a pain when you don't know how to use everything on them or they act up. But all in all I would have to say that getting them was a good idea. But kind of a pain to carry around!

There was a few problems earlier in some of my classes, especially with angel, because my teachers aren't used to it yet. Other wise it's been great!

Well they are ok sometimes but i think it has gone a little too far!! We still need to use paper for assignments i would like to see some things still done on paper!! I dont like how teachers spend more time than needed watching what you are doing on your computer! That is invation of privacy, and they say it is owned by the school so they can look at what ever they want! Well are people looking at the teachers screens all the time. I dont like how we have to look at Angel "417 times a day", ever hear of a handout or a book? what ev it's not like they are going to take any of this into consideration anyway! It is nice once in a while though.

I like my Macbook for the most part. It's very convient for homework. Sometimes it's hard to concentrate studying off a computer that's why I kinda miss pen and paper. For the most part i like my computer...

Hello Mr. Peterson's students!
You had some insightful comments about your MacBooks so far. Know that we are reading them and responding to things as much as possible. Keep up the great work and even though we know that it won't be smooth sailing 100% of the time, we truly hope that they make learning easier and take your learning to new dimensions for at least the majority of you.

I'm always comparing the mac to windows, with stuff like "well windows can do this" or "mac does this" but if you take a step back and look at it its like comparing a sword to a bow & arrow. the school uses macs over windows for many BIG reasons.
First is security, NO VIRUSES!!!! technically a mac can get a virus BUT it is very hard and you normally have to do it on purpose. Then there are all the programs, both windows and macs can do the same things just with a little different programs or even the same ones but mac gives the school special programs for the 24/7 program and its cheaper than windows, anyone would take that deal.
Second is convenience, the mac's are light-weight, durable, and stackable!! their like a thick notebook. Apple also has great support system that will take care of anything the school can't, which is mostly the bigger issues.
The last, and think is the BEST reason....is that there stupid proof! after all security is in place and everything is set up, can you, a friend, or maybe a sibling, mess up your mac?(without breaking the rules).....not really. how the mac works prevents too much from being changed and if that does happen it helps you fix it or there's someone who easily knows how to do it, its smooth like that!
Now just like with anything in life the mac has its own share of bad things and you can say the same about windows, but the reality is that one can't exists without the other. for one its illegal and without change, diversity, or competition what would keep the computer companies under control!
