What's new in Technology?

This week, I want YOU to list something here that involves something that is new in technology recently. It could deal with anything related to technology: cell phones, video games, computers, etc. You just need to summarize what you found and where you obtained the information.

Thanks.

Supposedly by 2010 a company called Zero Pollutions will have invented a car that gets approximately 106 miles per gallon. It has a little six cylinder in it and the way it's able to get such good mileage is that they figured out a way to use compressed air in the cylinders and only uses a little gas when your going a certain speed but while its idling its just using air. I have a feeling if it came out that gas prices would raise that much higher but what do ya do.

This week a lot of large companies are turning Blu-Ray from HD DVD. A lot of it sprang from Toshiba when they stopped their production of the HD DVD format.

Another huge corporation who decided to change from HD-DVD to Blu-Ray was the Paramount film company.

Blu-Ray is a much more high-def source that offers much more information to be put on a single disk (50GB on one dual layer disk).

Coca Cola, the world's largest soft drink manufacturer has created a new form of keeping their bottles of pop ice-cold. When the cap is twisted off, a mechanism inside will create ice made from the drink itself.

It will be tested on Sprite first, with a new product hitting UK shelves as early as next year, called Sprite Super Chilled. It is said if it works they may sell it to other companies. This could be a big hit in the drink industries.

Researchers Find Way to Steal Encrypted Data

The technique, which could undermine security software protecting critical data on computers, is as easy as chilling a computer memory chip with a blast of frigid air from a can of dust remover.

Newing also said LG is keen to build on its momentum with the two previous Black Label handsets, with those who bought a Shine last year likely to be looking for an upgrade during the next six months. With that in mind, the third Black Label phone is guaranteed a keen reception.

Microsoft has came out with a digital computer coffee table. This is a touchscreen device that allows you to transport photos from your digital camera right to your cell phone without plugging any thing in and also many other features that you could do. This device is called the Microsoft Surface.

The cool thing in technology that I found is theIBM's Multilingual Automatic Speech-to-Speech Translator in the Pocket PC. It translates what it hears right at the sound. It recognizes English and Mandarin and can translate to a few other languages right now, but they plan to make it available to a lot of other languages.

I found an article about The Top 5 Anticipated Video Games of 2008. They are Grand Theft Auto IV, Super Smash Brothers Brawl, Spore, and The Agency. It just confuses me so much how people can sit and play video games for days and days at a time!! I do not have the patience or the desire to do that! It's crazy how much technology has evolved in the last like 10 years, they are coming out with video games for everything nowadays! It's crazy!!

In recent news, researchers have found out ways to steal encrypted data on hard drives. The researchers from Princeton said that this could make secure information not so secure after all. Even more surprising, this method can be done by cooling the memory chip with a can of dust remover. The researchers stated that it is believed that when the power of the computer is shut off, the data, including the keys inside the chip are supposed to disappear, however it actually retains the memory for seconds or even minutes, and by freezing it with the air duster, it freezes the keys in place. I found this on the New York Times website.

Scientists have found a new "smart rubber" that is supposed to mend itself if it is torn. This new rubber could be used in shoes and fan belts. http://technology.newscientist.com/article/dn13354-smart-rubber-promises-selfmending-products.html

I think the coolest new thing in technology is the MacBook Air! It is the worlds thinnest notebook at .76 inch in height and weighing in at 3lbs! Amazing!! The only bad thing is they had to lose the optical drive to make it super thin!! Its not that big of a down fall though cause you can purchase an external super drive!!

On MSN.com, there is a video about a company called Esoro who made an underwater car. I'm not sure how it controls the depth but it has propellers on the back. It's pretty sweet.

I found something about how we are progressing toward smaller and faster computers. They are saying that by the year 2018 we will have computers that operate at the speed of light. The article also said that keyboard and mice may be obsolete, instead we will just use our voice or gestures. I thought that this article was cool because it talked about how computers are ever changing. They are becoming more and more crucial to our everyday life... and will just continue to do so.

Just recently apple came out with a lap top that is called Macbook Air. It's supper thin. You'll have to check it out at www.apple.com

I feel that the blu-ray disc technology will completely rid the world of normal CD and DVD's. They way that this is possible is by a shorter wavelength, blu-violet laser instead of just the simple read laser. A double layered blu-ray disc can hold up to 50GB of storage. That's nearly 6 times more than just a regular format DVD.

Recently a company has developed a homing device that can be used to keep track your of stuff. Its called the Loc8tor..hehe get it locater...anyway, it has a fingernail sized tag that you attach to something and then as you get closer, a light flashes on the receiver and becomes faster. They don't recommend using it on people although I think that could be sorta funny. I suppose that would get you into trouble. http://www.popularmechanics.com/blogs/technology_news/4248477.html

I now found that there is a way to watch your TV on the computers they now have packages that have the channels that you want to buy and so that is a good way you won't miss a game as long as you have a laptop.

I would say the iphone. Its not like any normal phone. For the iphone talking on it is the least you do on it. It has a multi-touch screen and it also has a virtual keyboard. And virtual buttons of course. Whats a virtual keyboard without virtual buttons! It has a camera on it..but most phones do. I bet this takes well quality pictures. I just betcha. The iphone is basically just a mac computer small enough to fit in your pocket. If they have technology like this for a phone, then probably in like 10 years phones will either be amazonly advanced or we will have no uses for cell phones. We will use something else. What would we use? How would I know, I cant tell the future! I have to publish it this way because it wouldn't let me do it the other way.
