Well, you may or may not have heard the rumor....we may be in the process at O'Neill Public Schools of getting laptops for every student at O'Neill High School!
Now that you are over the shock, please blog on how you feel that would help you in your classes, life, etc. How can you see having a laptop 24/7 help you at OHS?

I think it would be a huge help for everyone to recieve a laptop. That way you wouldn't always have to go to the library to look at something or to go print something off. The teachers wouldn't have to worry about signing up for the labs either. There is always the possibility of some of the students not being responsible with them and some of them getting ruined but it would be worth it for the overall student population.
i think it may help quite a bit becasue poeple would be more informed and willing to do more like take notes and be able to look back at them and plus no the schedule for thi class
I think that would help because books are getting heavier. My backpacket handle broke because the books were too heavy. I think that getting lab top is a good idea.
I think that Juniors and Seniors should be allowed their own computer because we deal with more homework that deals with internet and typing papers.

It's a good idea for those who dont have a pc at home and need to type their homework assignment, altho i personally dont want the hastle or the resposibility of it.
I think it would help my classes because then we wouldn't have to have the lab in the classes and we could do our homework on them without having to check them out and we wouldnt have check on the internet at school.
i think it would be great, only if we wont be in debt till we get outa college if somethin would happen to it. but otherwise i think it would be a great help to me, considering i dont have any excess to a computer at home.
see i have my own laptop and i dont want to be responsible for a nother one because if something happens to it i dont want to have to pay for with my laptop if something happen
I think that it will help classes because teachers can email assignments and require assignments to be emailed to them. With that we could get things in quicker and more effectivly.
If we had laptops to take with us 24/7 assignments could be done faster and could more complex than writing on paper. From my knowlege, things are to be done on computers get done a lot faster than if a teacher tells you to write a five paragraph essay. More people would be ready to TYPE that essay rather than write with a pencil and paper. Also if a teacher decided to change an assignment (ex. 22-45 instead of 1-45) he/she could just send an email or IM to a student so that student wouldnt do the extra work that he/she wont be graded for.
Being Mac computers the students wouldnt need to worry about virus scans on a regular basis.
All in all I think the school would benifit from students having laptop computers to carry with them at all times for educational reasons.
I think that getting a laptop would be great because you can have it out and ready for taking notes and can get assignments more easily. You won't make any mistakes with a computer than you would with paper and pen. People who don't have a computer can get one now so they don't have to wait tell the next day to get the assignment done.
I think it would be a great idea for the students. This would give them a chance to get a good feel on how to use the technology more, and it would help with our homework. Having it 24/7, would be very beneficial for us.
i think to it would be a big help for everyone for writing papers and reseaching projects and it would be a big help because you could get smartboard notes off the teachers compter and we would be able to go back and look at the notes if there is a problem and you dont understand something
I think everyone having a labtop would allow them to study more and teachers would be able to send things to students and allow students to be introduced to more things as far as techology.

i think having laptops at our school would help when doing assignments sent to us by email and it would make things easy overall when dealing with school work
i dont know if labtops will be a great idea for underclassmen because somewhere along the way your ganna have someone break one or have someone break someone elses, and someone will be stuck paying for it
Having a laptop would be a great help as a student. It would make it a lot easier to do homework and do research. It would be much handier to have a laptop when your on the road to games. It would also be an advandage, because everyone would get used to using the same software, and teachers could have websites, with homework assignments.
I think getting a laptop would be very helpful for every student. I could use the laptop for taking notes in class and for reports out of class.
I think laptops would make it easier for everybody in the school. It would allow the students to be able to look at information on the internet for research projects in the class. This way there will be less people having to go to the library. The teachers also wouldnt need to reserve the library for the computers. Although some laptops may be ruined by careless kids, many will still respect them, if there is certain discipline
Well what i think about getting laptops for everybody is cool and not cool. why do i think that? im glad you asked. i think it would be good because people could do there homework on the computer at home if they dont have a computer. and they could to more research and stuff. why i think it is not smart is becausse there are some people that are irrisponcible and they will prob break them. thats the only reason why i think it is a bad idea. no other reason. no more.. well ummm bye

I think that getting a laptop it would be great because is an easy way to do our homework and its not goint to be a trouble for teachers and that would help a lot.
Well, how would it not help us do our home work. We would really not have much of an exuse of not getting our homework done exept laziness. It would be much easier to type note other than write them and then we would never lose them other than a computer failure but how often would that happen with a mac.
I think that laptops for evereyone would be a great idea. It would be very useful to students that need to get on the internet to do research and for typing reports. Now teachers would never get the excuse well I dont have a computer the day the assignment was do. Although I dont think that it would be a very wise idea to be giving laptops to Junior High at that age I dont think they are responsible enough for one...maybe some are, but the majority I would have to say no! At least when I was in Junior High I couldnt keep track of a $1 pencil let alone a $1000 dollar laptop!!
Laptops for everyone is a great idea because it will help us with our homework and keep our things more organized. I think the teachers will appreciate them more also because it will take less time in class to get your things ready. Opening books and getting paper and pencils takes some time, not a lot, but some. In my opinion, everybody will benefit from these, and we'll get to learn more about them as we go!
i think that it would help a lot to have laptops people would actually what to take notes in class. and it could be a easier way of studying. but if we do get them i think they should only be for the juniors and seniors because we are more responsible than the younger classes.
I think laptops for juniors and seniors would be very useful. It would be one of the priviledges of being an upper classman. This way students will have access to the internet 24/7 to do research or some classes have cds you can use to help you with homework when you are at home. During the school day, having a laptop for everyone may help students to take notes or type up their homework. I think this would benefit us a lot since it will help us become familiar with macs and the different programs it has.
Sounds like a great idea. but i already have one, and use it at school as it is. but i think it would be great for everyone to have one. saves locker space, and money on paper. so, sounds like a plan.

i would think it would help really much. people will end up taking notes faster then others maybe not all because some might type slower then others. only bad things really is the responsiblity for them. like what if it gets damaged do we haave to pay for it? as to if it gets stolen.. would be nice not having to write anymore woo hooo ... now you don't have to ask for a pencil when taking notes.

I think it would be helpful for many reasons. Personally, I think I would use the laptop for all my notes. For classes like Spanish and History, we take many notes, and I would prefer to type them as opposed to writing them down. It's much faster to type notes than write them out. For Spanish, we do listening activities, and we have to record our responses on one computer in the room. If everyone had Macs, we could do it all with Garageband, and email them to the teacher.
If i had the mac laptop that would be great because i could use it for many things. I could use photoshop at home for the pictures that i already have. I could use it for homework and assignments or projects. I do know some people that think its kinda dumb because they think they would break it or loose it. I guess its a risk i am willing to take. But in the end i guess i just really want one.
I think laptops would benefit our students becuase we would all have our own access to web sites that would be helpful to the students. Taking notes would actually be fun, becuase more students can type a lot faster in which they can write. They would be a lot quicker and more efficient. It would also make the school even more of a learning experience.

I think it would be great if everyone could get a lap top! In certain classes we get homework assignments that have to be done on the computer, and there are kids who don't have access to a computer at home. It would be easier for them to get their homework done on time if they could have their own laptop. It would allow every student a much bigger and better chance of learning.
I think having our own laptob would be very helpfull! It would be convient to be able to take them places so we can always be working on our homework! It would also be very helpful and convient for my journalism class to be able to work on the yearbook anytime so we could always meet our deadlines, and it would help make a fun and creative yearbook this year =]
I think it would be a hudge help for students. Its portable and easy to carry around and hopefully it would come with a bag to carry it around in and to keep everything together so nothing will get lost! It helps because almost all the teachers have their own websites now, and checking our grades on computer would be easier instead of getting a pass to go to the liabrary to check their grades on and missing assignments so. This way the teachers at school all won't have to fight over the portable labs and reservation for in the liabrary because of an assignment that requires a compter for. It would be easier to keep everything organized also. So YES I am all for it!!!
I think that in this day and age we NEED to have our own laptops! Our generation has grown up around computers and once we graduate we'll be getting jobs where we will surely be using computers in our everyday life. Giving laptops to the students at OHS will put them ahead of the rest and give us more opportunities. I've remarked several times in class that I just wish that I had a computer to take my notes on! I can type so much faster than handwriting everything. I must agree with the other students that said it would be easier to keep track of your assignments. That's so true. Plus, notebook paper looks very unprofessional and I have bad penmenship. I could be so much more organized with my own Mac computer! We need to learn how to use these computers.

I definetly see the benifits that would come from everyone getting a laptop because of all the obvious reasons everyone else has posted. I see a couple obstacles with getting every student a laptop, but I think society has advanced so much it has almost becomme a necessity. After all, the 7th graders got palm piolets, I think high schoolers could handle computers!! :)
i think that it would be great if we had a labtop 24/7, because alot of people don't have internet or even have computer at home. It would be a great help to us who don't with homework and more! If i had a labtop i wouldn't have to worry bout having to go to the library or staying after school to do your homework!
I think its a great idea. Not everyone has access to a computer at home so to give them that is just wonderful. I just hope they can get this going before this years seniors are gone.
